Coach Romer

Coach Rex Romer is excited to join the Eastlake staff this year to help with the Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs. He was a three year starter at Cornerback and Wide Receiver at Oak Harbor High School from 1991-1993. From there he went on to play Wide Receiver at Olivet College in Michigan before transferring to Oakland University where he received a B.A. in English. While there, his coaching career began at Rochester Adams High School where he coached for four years and as Defensive Coordinator helped lead the team to the playoffs for the first time in their school’s history in 1998. He returned to Washington in 1999 and coached Defensive Backs at Western Washington University before joining his former Head Coach, Dave Ward (the current Head Coach at Arch Bishop Murphy), to coach for three years at his alma mater, Oak Harbor High School. In 2003, Rex joined the staff at Issaquah High School where he coached for seven years. He enjoyed his time there immensely as Defensive Coordinator and eventually the Head Coach during which time the team earned their way into the 2008 State Championship Game. He fondly recalls the 2006 season where, as the Head Coach, he led the Eagles to an 8-3 season and lost in the playoffs to eventual champion Bellevue. Last year, Rex coached at Eastside Catholic High School. His wife of six years, Rachel, is a caregiver for the mentally disabled, and they both enjoy working with the youth group at their church.
