The Wolves JV dominated Lake Washington for their first home game leaving the field with a 44-8 victory.

The scoring for Eastlake started early with Joey Grzetic running back the kickoff to the Kang’s 46 yd line. Behind outstanding blocking by the offensive line, Nick Robbins and Matt Brookshier rushed for consecutive 1st downs to start the series. Jackson Proctor followed with a QB keep and with just seconds off the clock the Wolves were 1st and goal on the 1 yard line. On the next play Proctor hit a wide open Grzetic in the end zone for the Wolves first TD of the day. Nick Evans came in for the PAT giving the Wolves an early 7-0 lead. The defense came out strong to start and held the Kang’s to a 3 and out with a tackle for a loss and huge 3rd down stop by Jason Bryant forcing the Kangs to punt deep in their own territory. After a Grzetic return to the 20, Proctor hit Max Verboort in the corner of the end zone on a perfect 27 yard TD pass. Evans came in for the PAT and the Wolves took a 14-0 lead early in the 1st quarter. The defense came up big on the very next play with Trent Nicholson intercepting the Kangs on their own 30 yard line as the 1st quarter came to a close.

The long day for the Kangs continued with the Wolves scoring quickly to start the 2nd quarter. After a Brookshier 1st down run and a costly Kangs personal foul the Wolves were once again in the red zone. Proctor handed off to Brookshier at the 10 and he walked in for another Eastlake TD. With 9:00 mins left in the 2nd, the Wolves were up 21-0. The defenses were stingy on both sides for the remainder of the 2nd quarter. The Kangs got their first stop on D with an interception in the end zone but only to be answered by the Wolves with Zade Thompson intercepting the Kang’s with seconds left on the clock. Despite a long pass from Trent Nicholson to Jack Miller the Wolves ran out of time and ended the half with a huge lead. The Wolves defense only allowed one 1st down in the 1st half.

The Kangs started the first series of the 2nd half and once again the Wolves D came out strong with a quick 3 and out. The offense went to work at the Kangs 35 and after a 1st down pass to Chris Knutson, Proctor kept the ball and ran 18 yards for another Wolves TD. Evans came in for the PAT making the score 28-0. The next series on offense was rough for the Kangs. Carson Seelig read the hand off and came up with a 5 yard tackle for a loss. Bryant followed that up on the next play stripping the QB and recovering the ball on the Kangs 15. Proctor led his offense back on the field and found a wide open Scott Maule for a 5 yard TD pass. The Kangs took over on their own 10 after a huge hit by Braden Skolfield killing any hope for a return. Bryant continued his monster day with another sack driving the Kangs back to the 3 yard line. The Kangs were forced to punt and botched the snap giving the Wolves a safety and a 37-0 lead. The Wolves would keep the ball after the safety and after a 1st down catch and run by Sam Coomes the 3rd quarter came to a close.

The Wolves wasted no time to start the 4th with a 34 yard TD run by Robbins and a 44-0 lead. That would end up being the last score of the game for the Wolves but not the most meaningful one. The next offensive series by the Kangs demonstrated great sportsmanship by both teams. The Kangs handed off to one of the team’s inspirational leaders who ran the length of the field for a Kangs TD. Both teams surrounded Max in the end zone celebrating his TD run. The final score of the game was 44-8, Wolves!
