Eastlake started out fast and never looked back in a dominant win over Redmond Monday night, 48-0. The offense wasted no time and on the opening kickoff drove the length of the field. Jackson Proctor handed off to Matty Brookshier and Nick Robbins for a series of strong 1st down runs ending with a Brookshier TD run for their first of many for the night. Noah Weintraub came in for a perfect PAT kick and the Wolves took an early 7-0 lead. The Mustangs took the kickoff deep in their own territory and faced a stout Eastlake defense forcing them to punt after a quick three and out. The offense took over after a short kick and Jackson Proctor found Max Verboort for a 25 yd TD pass. After another perfect PAT by Weintraub, the Wolves found themselves up 14-0 midway through the 1st quarter. The Mustangs got the ball back in hopes of closing the gap with a score but fell short after Carson Seelig came in with a huge sack and fumble recovery giving the ball back to the Wolves on the Redmond 40 yd line. Proctor led the offense back on the field and hit Robbins on a screen which he took right down the sidelines for another Wolves TD. Despite a 20-0 lead the Wolves defense stayed aggressive and continued to make big plays with little time left in the 1st quarter. Braden Skolfield set the tone for the next series with a huge hit on the kickoff pinning Redmond deep in their own territory followed by a Luke Carroll sack for a loss as the 1st quarter clock winded down to 0:00.
The Mustangs picked up where they left off to start the 2nd and continued their offensive woes. Forced to punt after a Wolves defensive stop, the snap sailed over the punters head giving Eastlake the ball at the Redmond 35 yd line. Eastlake handed off to Brookshier for a big gain and found themselves once again 1st and goal. Proctor hit Seelig for a short pass and he muscled his way into the end zone for another Wolves TD. After a Weintraub PAT, the Wolves padded their lead to start the 2nd quarter, 27-0. The Mustangs took their first possession of the 2nd quarter deep in their own territory but once again faced a stout defense resulting in another quick three and out. The Wolves offense took over with a short field. Proctor started the drive with a quick pass to Sam Coomes followed by a run by Robbins putting them 1st and goal at the 7 yd line. Robbins found the end zone on the next play with a screen pass from Proctor and another Wolves TD. PAT good, Wolves up big 34-0. The defense came out in the next series and continued to dominate the sputtering Mustangs offense with consecutive tackles for a loss by Brookshier and Carroll. Faced with a 3rd and long, the Mustangs pass play was broken up by Jack Miller forcing them to punt. Trent Nicholson signaled fair catch well into Redmond territory after a short kick and the Wolves offense once again found themselves with a short field. Proctor handed off to Brookshier for a 16 yd run followed by a Grzetic 1st down. The quick drive was capped off by a TD pass to Zade Thompson. A very long first half finally ended with a Carroll sack and another defensive stop heading to the sidelines with a 48-0 lead.
The 2nd half moved quickly with a running clock and a stout Wolves defense. The offenses traded off drives with the Wolves defense keeping the Mustangs out of the end zone all night. The Wolves did finish the game with a late TD making the final score 48-0.
